The next decade of business will belong to companies that derive value from AI quickly.
We've already moved beyond chatbots answering simple questions. Today's leading enterprises are deploying specialized AI agents for discrete workflows — reviewing contracts, summarizing meetings, extracting invoice data. But this is merely the beginning of a much larger transformation.
The future will see AI agents deployed at scale in every organization, across complex workflows that span multiple lines of business — unlocking potential that we've never been able to reach before.
Imagine giving every employee access to AI agents to instantly research any topic, extract relevant data, and generate content for coworkers and customers. Work is more efficient, more accurate, and far less tedious. Humans are freed up to do the thinking only humans can do, while agents accelerate complex workflows in the background.
This is all possible with agentic AI. So why hasn’t every company streamlined and accelerated business with AI agents?
Agentic AI’s potential hinges on the context trapped in unstructured data
Every enterprise sits on a goldmine: the 90% of data trapped in documents, presentations, images, and videos. The key is tapping into that content to inform, contextualize, and enable AI agents.
A wealth management client's complete profile is spread across onboarding forms, meeting notes, portfolio analyses, and customer conversation threads in different systems. Research teams own terabytes of data from myriad experiments and projects, enabling new drug discovery — if only teams could connect the dots. Media companies juggle production schedules, creative assets, and distribution agreements across platforms, potentially losing millions to inefficiency.
This fragmentation isn't just inconvenient. It prevents AI adoption. Agents can't automate what they can't access, can't optimize what they can't understand, and can't transform business if 90% of knowledge remains locked away. It’s the biggest challenge most enterprises face in deriving value from AI.
With content in the right place, companies can use agentic AI to transform workflows
Benefiting from AI means tapping into that unstructured data. It also means connecting your content — and the context within it — to the AI agents and workflows you're building to drive efficiency and productivity in this new AI era of business.
That's what we're delivering at Box: the leading Intelligent Content Management platform that enables organizations to apply the full power of AI. Our customers are driving massive operational efficiency by adopting advanced agentic AI and designing agent-powered workflows.
For instance, a leading investment firm used Box Extract to categorize and identify key compliance-related information from 750K+ documents for an impending audit — in one weekend.
A major real estate company used Box Apps to build a property management app to manage all US leases — extracting critical information from those leases, routing them for approvals and exceptions, and providing a centralized place to search and find content (then enabling them to save money by retiring their dedicated contract management system).
And a Fortune 500 company manages digital assets with Box Apps — with Box AI curating and tagging those assets, sending them through an automated publishing workflow, and making them available to the entire company with powerful search capability.
Even here at Box, we’ve done things like build a series of purpose-built agents for our sales team that streamlines our internal sales cycle — giving reps back 90% of the time they previously spent on RFP responses.
Both inside Box and across enterprises worldwide, there’s a fundamental shift happening in how work gets done. At BoxWorks 2025, we unveiled the next generation of innovations to unlock transformative potential for every enterprise.
Box Extract delivers agentic data extraction for smarter process automation

Enterprises create vast amounts of content, and locked within this content is critical data that could drive key decisions, power key workflows, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Yet, much of this value remains trapped inside unstructured formats, making it difficult, slow, and expensive to access at scale.
Box Extract will enable you to intelligently extract actionable data from unstructured content at scale by leveraging a combination of customizable AI-powered extraction agents and advanced techniques. Box Extract uses agentic reasoning, powered by Box AI Standard and Enhanced Extract Agents (available now), and will soon enable teams to customize those agents to enable higher accuracy and reliability.
And because extracted data is stored as metadata right alongside your content on Box, you can easily create custom dashboards and metadata views in Box Apps. You can also automate business processes — routing tasks, generating custom documents, and more — while benefitting from the enterprise-grade security and compliance that Box delivers.
Box Automate orchestrates work across agents and teams to accelerate business

AI agents perform tasks requiring advanced reasoning and iterative analysis. As they scale to outnumber enterprise knowledge workers, they create an unprecedented opportunity to automate critical processes. The challenge is designing and deploying agentic workflows adaptable to a variety of use cases.
The answer is Box Automate, an agentic workflow automation solution built natively in Box. Box Automate will enable organizations to effortlessly orchestrate intelligent workflows using a drag-and-drop builder, customize agents for specific use case needs, and seamlessly execute end-to-end workflows in Box and beyond.
With Box Automate, companies across all industries can optimize workflows with agents and teams — to deeply analyze client documents during financial services onboarding, quickly triage citizen submissions in government agencies, provide rapid answers during regulatory submissions in life sciences, and more.
By bringing content, AI, and teams together, Box Automate reduces manual work, improves accuracy, and unlocks new productivity at scale — so businesses can focus resources on higher‑value activities while trusted agents manage routine and complex workflows.
Box Apps has new capabilities to enable better decision-making

Earlier this year, we launched Box Apps — a no-code builder for creating apps with custom dashboards, metadata views, and integrated workflows — to address use cases like contract management, digital asset libraries, onboarding, and more. Today, we’re excited to announce AI-powered enhancements in Box Apps to help teams make faster, smarter decisions.
Box Apps will be able to surface Box AI Agents on demand, to help users process and analyze content within specific views. These could be Box AI Foundation Agents — Q&A, Compose, Extract, Search and Research — or custom agents created with Box AI Studio or Box Extract.
For instance, you will be able to simply ask Box AI to find vendor contracts expiring within three months and flag ones with auto-renewal clauses — no more manual sorting, filtering or reviews.
We’ll also be adding charts and graphs for at-a-glance data visualization, multi-page layouts for better organization, and the ability to embed Box Apps in third party and custom applications.
These updates will make Box Apps more powerful, flexible, and easier to integrate with existing processes.
Box Shield Pro offers enterprise-grade security for the agentic era

Security and compliance have always been at the core of Box’s mission, and in the age of AI, enterprises need even more advanced solutions to protect and govern their valuable and sensitive information.
At BoxWorks, we announced Box Shield Pro, a powerful new suite of security capabilities powered by AI, that builds on our flagship content protection solution, Box Shield.
With Box Shield Pro, customers will be able to classify more content than ever with AI classification agents, accelerate threat response with agentic insights, and rapidly identify and respond to evolving threats like ransomware.
Box AI Studio puts agentic creation at your fingertips
Earlier this year, we announced the ability to build custom AI Agents on the Box platform. We’ve already seen customers drive workflow transformation with these agents, so we’re doubling down on the capabilities of Box AI Studio.
Soon, you’ll be able to add knowledge from Box directly to your custom agents and reference individual files when building agents, or create agents that tap into entire folders or Hubs of content for comprehensive knowledge access.
Early adopters of Box AI Studio are already seeing transformative results, leveraging AI agents to speed up legal contract reviews, pull insights from financial reports, and answer employee questions instantly.
Your AI, your choice: The open platform for enterprise agents
Across all of these agentic solutions, including Box AI Studio and Box AI APIs, customers have options for state-of-the-art AI models including Anthropic, Amazon, Google, IBM, Meta, OpenAI, and xAI.
Additionally, customers can extend Box content across third party and custom agents using the remote Box MCP server, which serves as a secure bridge to connect AI agents to your content on Box. Instead of building complex custom integrations, our MCP server standardizes how third party agents connect to your enterprise knowledge, while respecting your existing Box security and access policies.
This unlocks new possibilities for your teams within the tools they live in every day, including Anthropic's Claude, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Azure API Center, and Mistral Le Chat — with Salesforce Agentforce, GitHub Copilot, and more coming soon.
Empowering nonprofits to join the agent revolution
No BoxWorks would be complete without an announcement from Box.org, our social impact arm. This year, we launched the fifth annual Box Impact Fund at BoxWorks — a global funding opportunity that supports nonprofits pursuing digital transformation to amplify their impact in child welfare, crisis response, and environmental protection.
This year, six organizations will each receive $25,000 grants (totaling $150,000). The fund continues to prioritize projects leveraging AI to transform nonprofit operations and accelerate mission-critical work. Applications are now open — learn more and apply here.
