Box Impact Day: Our new approach to giving back this holiday season
In light of the global pandemic and the impact all over the world, it’s incredibly important that we come together to give back to those in need. At Box and Box.org, we’re excited to join GivingTuesday.org, a global generosity movement activating millions of people worldwide to transform their communities and the world.
3 years ago, we launched our Global Impact Day, a day where Boxers all around the globe join together to use our strengths for greater good. In the past, we’ve used the day to spend time volunteering in our communities or to host nonprofits at our offices to focus on these organizations' needs and causes. However, this year, as we continue to keep distance in hopes of keeping our communities safe, we set out to find new ways to empower Boxers across the world to get involved, despite being physical apart.
Box Impact Day, 2019
This year, Impact Day may be entirely virtual, but the impact will be bigger than ever. Inspired by this year’s internal Hackathon, Impact Day will give Boxers the opportunity to take “Social Haction” either by hacking, for an external social impact or Boxer Community opportunity, or acting, by taking on a virtual volunteer assignment with a nonprofit. In addition to Boxers dedicating their time, Box.org will also provide grants to the nonprofits we’re supporting. This year, Boxers will take “Social Haction” focused on our community focus areas:
- Building a diverse tech pipeline
- Doing our part to enable nonprofit digital transformation
- Being a good neighbor
While Giving Tuesday is a huge opportunity to help invest in and support nonprofits, we know how important it is to support these organizations all year round, especially in a year like 2020. We're proud to be part of the Pledge 1% community, a global movement to create a new normal in which giving back is integrated into the DNA of companies of all sizes.
Below you’ll find the names of the organizations we will be volunteering with on our 3rd annual Global Impact Day. These organizations were chosen because their mission, services, and leadership are critical to improving our communities and the world around us. We hope that you will keep these incredible organizations in mind as you decide how you’d like to get involved on Giving Tuesday and beyond. Let’s work together to create a more just and generous world for everyone and do #MoreGoodTogether.
