Work Smarter with Box and Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams and Box

We released a new Box for Microsoft Teams integration earlier this year, which coincided with the start of an extended period of remote work for many organizations. With this new era of remote work, collaboration and communication apps like Teams have become more critical than ever. Box has responded to this by prioritizing our roadmap to expedite the delivery of features that improve the Box for Microsoft Teams experience. Now more than ever, we are committed to serving our customers in the ways they need it most.

One new feature we're excited to announce today is the ability for team owners to choose an existing Box folder to map their channels to. Team owners will still have the option of using the folders that Box has automatically mapped to their channel for fast and easy deployment if they prefer. We understand Teams users may have invested in an existing folder structure for content collaboration, and we want to ensure that Box provides the choice and flexibility they need to help them optimize productivity.

Box and Microsoft Teams

Box for Teams is a powerful integration that enables you to work smarter. With this integration, you can:

  • Use Box as the common content layer across all your apps. Harness the power of Teams and Box's best of breed ecosystem to bring in content from major third-party applications including Microsoft Office, G Suite, Salesforce, and iWork into your channels and chats in Teams.
  • Get a seamless user experience for managing Box content in Teams. Box automatically manages content permissions for collaboration within Teams and provides an easy-to-use destination for all content shared in channels and chats.
  • Utilize Box's frictionless security and governance for content stored in Teams. Box aligns with your organization's advanced security policies for Box content shared in Teams to drive secure content collaboration across the Microsoft Teams platform.

While we are excited with how much progress we have made thus far, we know that our work isn't done yet. We are always looking to improve the product experience for you, whether you're accessing content from within Box or within your third party apps. Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to share any feedback or feature requests you may have via Box Pulse or your Box account teams.
