Join us at EDUCAUSE 2017!
Next week is the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference in Philadelphia, which brings together college and university IT professionals and technology providers from around the world in order to enable sharing best practices and proven solutions as well as discussing emerging technologies and trends relevant to their students, faculty, and staff. Coming on the heels of BoxWorks several weeks ago, I'm especially excited for this year's conference to hear the community's feedback on our announcements there. Already numerous colleges and universities have expressed interest and/or participated in the beta for Box Relay, which goes into general availability on November 13, as well as the forthcoming Box Skills which brings artificial intelligence and machine learning to your content.
We'll be talking a lot about Box Skills and the many use cases for AI & ML in teaching, learning, and educational content. In particular, I'm joining a session focused on The Art of the Possible" with AI & ML on Wednesday November 1 at 10:30am in Meeting Room 202A/B, 200 Level to provide an overview of Box Skills and our strategy for AI & ML, as well as some of the potential use cases we see. The session will include perspectives from leading technology companies, including: Box, Instructure, McGraw-Hill, and Microsoft, as well as from universities providing the current context and understanding of what ML & AI mean now as well as getting the audience thinking about what opportunities (and new challenges for IT) are going to open up because of these advances and their impact on college and university environments. When the EDUCAUSE planning committee proposed this “hot topic” session, there was a general recognition that we’re at the very early stages of something with tremendously important impact, not only for higher education but also society as a whole. I'm very excited at the possibilities, especially considering where the higher education community will take this set of powerful technological capabilities as they mature.
In case you can't make the session, we'll also show demos of Box Skills at our booth #457 in the Expo Hall near the poster sessions area, which will be staffed by the Box Higher Education team on Wednesday November 1 and Thursday November 2. We’ll also have demos of other Box features and functionality and be glad to discuss how colleges and universities are deploying and supporting leading edge enterprise cloud content management with robust security and compliance controls to support even the most sensitive student, administrative, and research data. Most importantly we are there to answer the community’s questions on our capabilities, roadmap, and strategy, so I encourage everyone to stop by and talk with us -- whether your campus has already deployed Box or you are still considering the right enterprise cloud content management service for your students, faculty, and staff.
Our higher education community reception will be Wednesday November 1, 5-6:30pm at City Tap House, please join us and feel free to pass along to your team and colleagues who might be interested. We’re expecting a packed house so please be sure and RSVP to secure your spot. Whether your campus is already deploying cloud content management or you are still evaluating solutions, please come and talk with your community peers and the Box Higher Education team.
Although engaging the community and learning from peers and colleagues are some of the most valuable aspects of participating in Box's higher education program, please reach out to me via [email protected] if you'd like to arrange a dedicated meeting to discuss any campus-specific issues. See you in Philly!
