Introducing the Grantees of the 2024-2025 Box Impact Fund

Introducing the Grantees of the 2024-2025 Box Impact Fund

It's that time of year again at Box—time to announce our latest Box Impact Fund grantees! In our fourth year, we're excited to support organizations focused on child welfare, crisis response, and environmental protection. Each selected organization will receive a $25,000 grant, totaling $150,000 to help fund important digital projects that often lack the resources they need. We’re thrilled to support organizations launching new programs, expanding existing projects, and building new technologies to deliver on mission driven services.

New this year, we asked organizations to tell us how their proposed grant would incorporate AI to reduce time and streamline processes. AI is changing how we work. Based on the applications we received nonprofits are looking to be at the forefront using this technology to carry out their critical work.

This year’s applications inspired our Boxer reviewers and our panel of judges. We thank everyone who took the time to apply and continue to be blown away with the important work you are doing to change the world.

And now, we are thrilled to celebrate our 2024-2025 Box Impact Fund grantees. Below you’ll learn about these organizations, their work, and the projects they will be pursuing with the grants:

Child Welfare

The Children’s Cabinet

  • The Children’s Cabinet is dedicated to keeping children safe and families together by providing no-cost resources and services to youth and families in Nevada. From early childhood to young adulthood, we ensure every child and family has access to the support they need to thrive in their schools, homes, and communities—no matter their circumstances.
  • “The Children’s Cabinet is excited to receive funding from the Box Impact Fund to build the Youth Mental Health Navigator—the next step in our collective impact efforts to address the youth mental health crisis. This innovative AI tool will provide immediate, confidential access to critical resources, empowering young people and their families to connect to resources to thrive."— Kim Young, CEO, The Children’s Cabinet

Foster Nation

  • Foster Nation empowers foster youth to become self-sufficient adults through transformative mentorship and critical resources to help youth lead their best lives after foster care. We believe that one meaningful connection, one spark, can make all the difference for all foster youth, reminding them that they belong, they matter, and they are not alone.
  • “Our new digital transformation internship program funded by the Box Impact Fund will prepare and equip foster youth with foundational digital tools and know-how they need to succeed in any career. We are so excited to provide young people with the skills, training, and connections they need to arrive in the professional world with equal footing to people with earlier access to technology.” - Maggie Lin, Founder & Executive Director

Crisis Response

FUNDEPAZ

  • FUNDEPAZ is dedicated to building lasting peace and sustainable development in southwestern Colombia through participatory approaches that empower vulnerable communities, particularly indigenous peoples and women. Our mission focuses on strengthening human rights, environmental protection, and community resilience while preserving ancestral knowledge and promoting innovative solutions for social transformation.
  • "Through Building Adaptive Capacity for Extreme Weather Events in Colombia through Community Empowerment - BRACE project, we are revolutionizing disaster resilience by fusing indigenous wisdom with AI technology. Our digital transformation project will safeguard 100 community members, reduce disaster response time by 60%, and empower women to lead in crisis management. Thanks to this funding, we are developing a sustainable model that intertwines traditional knowledge with innovation to save lives."  Jesús Arciniegas, Projects Officer of FUNDEPAZ.

Out in Tech

  • Out in Tech unites the LGBTQ+ tech community by creating opportunities for members to advance their careers, grow their networks, and leverage tech for social change.
  • “The free websites and apps we build for grassroots groups go a long way in strengthening advocacy, raising funds, and building supportive networks. With 250+ websites under our belt, we know these platforms are vital resources to document incidents of violence and bring attention to human rights abuses. The Digital Corps program harnesses technology to equip LGBTQ+ communities to navigate hostile environments, build resilience, and drive collective action toward equity and safety." - Gary Goldman, VP of Impact

Environment

Ushahidi

  • Ushahidi helps people everywhere to easily gather data and generate insights that help tackle issues that matter most to them.
  • "Ushahidi is committed to transforming how communities access and use climate information. This collaboration is not just about data, it's about building a platform for community engagement and ensuring that adaptation strategies are firmly grounded in local realities. We are excited to work with Box to make this a reality." Angela Oduor Lungati, Executive Director, Ushahidi

The Jane Goodall Institute

  • The Jane Goodall Institute is inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall's vision of a compassionate, sustainable world where people, animals, and the environment thrive together. Guided by science, JGI advances integrated conservation solutions that help protect wildlife, restore habitats, inspire communities to flourish sustainably, and ignite young leaders worldwide to drive meaningful change.
  • "Science powers JGI — from our decades of research that has shaped our understanding of chimpanzee behavior and conservation, to our community-led conservation approach, science connects and supports all of our programs. Support from the Box Impact Fund will allow us to scale our proven systems and technologies like Esri ArcGIS and mobile data collection tools, enabling us to restore ecosystems, protect habitats, and advance conservation efforts. This will help democratize access to these tools, build local capacity, and empower communities across Africa to take ownership of their conservation decisions — furthering Dr. Jane Goodall's vision of a sustainable future for all." — Dr. Lilian Pintea, VP of Conservation Science
