Seamless collaboration across dispersed teams is more important than ever. That's why it's critical for organizations to provide their workers with collaboration tools to maximize productivity and minimize friction. Solutions like Confluence by Atlassian and Box take it a step further by integrating their critical services to make collaboration even easier among distributed teams.
Confluence is a collaborative workspace that makes knowledge easily accessible to teams. A lot of this knowledge is captured in documents that often reside outside of Confluence and is tied to a Confluence knowledge article with a URL that links to the document. These URLs don't provide any context as to what they are pointing to and they can really start to add up. Across Confluence's user base, more than 30 million links are pasted into Confluence articles every month - and many of those links point to Box.
Today, we're excited to announce Smart Links for Box, a new Box for Confluence integration which adds rich context and preview capability of Box content within Confluence. With this new integration, teams can provide more information about the Box content they are linking to. Here are the options users have when inserting Box content in Confluence:
- Inline View: See the file name, file type, and file source
- Card View: In addition to file name, file type, and file source, card view provides a small preview of the content and the ability to open a full embedded preview of the file as well as a download option without having to leave Confluence
- Embed View [coming soon]: Embed view enables users to interact with Box content all within Confluence
We know that security is more important than ever now that many teams are collaborating remotely. Box's enterprise grade security features and functionality will remain unchanged by this new integration. The owner of the content in Box controls who can access, preview, and even see the file name of any Box content shared via Confluence. Confluence simply enables authorized users to view and interact with Box content without duplicating any Box content within Confluence.
We're excited to bring you this new Confluence Smart Links for Box integration to enable your workforces to collaborate more easily. We look forward to continuing our work with Atlassian to further evolve this integration so that we can continue to simplify teamwork across all our joint customers.
