SMEG Powers Cloud Content Management with Box

We are excited to share a European customer story about Société Monégasque de l’Electricité et du Gaz (SMEG) that uses Box for cloud content management.

Founded in 1926, SMEG provides electricity, gas, and street lighting to the whole of the Principality of Monaco.

“SMEG is a historic operator in Monaco, and our challenge was to offer a very reliable service, safe and accessible, for anyone, everywhere. The deciding factor that made us choose Box for cloud content management was multifaceted,” says Thomas Cartereau, Chief Information Officer at SMEG. “Box’s solution is now central to our digital ecosystem. Its use has spread across all our businesses and all our applications."

Since becoming a Box customer in 2014, SMEG has expanded its use of Box to:

• Power internal and external collaboration with partners, service providers and independent contractors;
• Manage data within European territory to meet regional regulation requirements with Box Zones;
• Enhance signature-based partner workflows with Box Sign;
• Keep regulated content secure with Box Shield.

With Box Shield classification settings, SMEG has successfully blocked more than 2K attempted shares of sensitive links, by disabling users from generating them in the first place. Box Shield has also flagged 2,500 potential security incidents.

“Subscribing to Box Shield was obvious to us,” says Thomas Cartereau. “Digital security is one of our major concerns, and Box Shield enabled us to increase the security of our storage space in the cloud in a drastic way.”

On SMEG’s use of Box Sign, Thomas Cartereau commented: “When Box told us about the imminent availability of Box Sign, we were very excited about this service.  It would enable us to empower our workforce with technology for our numerous daily content processes to better manage our distribution, production and supply of electricity and gas throughout Monaco. We were able to easily set up Box Sign with Box’s help and put native e-signatures into use in a fast and efficient way within just a few weeks for all of our partners.”
