A smarter, faster way to keep Salesforce records in sync

We all want Salesforce to be our single source of truth, but keeping records perfectly synced with documents often requires more manual effort than you’d like. Users have to manually review contracts, invoices, and forms stored in Box and then re-type key information into Salesforce. It’s a process that slows down their day and opens the door to simple mistakes.

Today, we’re releasing Box AI Metadata Extraction in our Salesforce managed package. With this release, there’s a smarter way to work. Now, you can simply upload a file to the Box widget, and the system acts as an intelligent assistant, reading the document and automatically populating the correct Salesforce fields. This automated action accelerates your workflow and ensures your data is always accurate, without you having to type a single line.

From static files to actionable data

The core of this update is the Box AI Extract Tab, a sophisticated feature that leverages AI to populate Salesforce records directly from Box files. The process is designed to be intuitive yet powerful.

  • Intelligent context selection: Users can select Box files as context sources and choose the specific Salesforce object type (such as Opportunities or Leads) they wish to populate

  • Structured extraction:Box AI extracts the relevant data and maps it to Salesforce fields, allowing users to review and accept the data before saving

Delivering accuracy across the enterprise

This capability is about more than just speed. It’s about driving data integrity across critical business functions.

  • Invoice processing: Sales representatives can select invoice PDF files and have Box AI automatically extract the Amount, Close Date, and Description to create accurate Opportunity records

  • Contract analysis: Legal teams can select multiple contract files and use Merge Mode to extract Contract Value, Start Dates, and Terms into a single, comprehensive record

  • Lead generation: Marketing teams can process batches of lead forms, using the wizard interface to efficiently create multiple Lead records from event data

Curating content at scale with Box Hubs

To truly maximize the value of AI extraction, your underlying content needs to be organized and accessible. That’s why we’ve expanded the Box for Salesforce Developer Toolkit to include full support for Box Hubs.

This update allows users to create, manage, and collaborate on Box Hubs directly within Salesforce, providing a curated layer of truth for your documents. We’ve also extended these capabilities to Salesforce Flow Actions and the Box for Agentforce Extension package. This means developers can now build sophisticated agentic workflows where an AI agent can intelligently retrieve curated content from a Box Hub and then trigger the extraction process — automating not just the data entry, but the entire information retrieval lifecycle.

Built on a foundation of security and trust

This efficiency is backed by the enterprise-grade trust you expect. Following our recent enhancements to Government Cloud+ and Financial Services Cloud, this automation operates within the strictest security boundaries.

For our public sector customers, we recently expanded Box for Salesforce support to Salesforce Government Cloud Plus. This ensures that your content management and collaboration now operate within a FedRAMP High authorized and DoD IL-4 compliant environment, meeting the rigorous compliance standards required by federal agencies.

In the financial sector, we’re introducing deeper visibility with the new Box Embed and Box Events feature for the Salesforce Financial Services Cloud. This integration automatically tracks user activities with content in Box (including file uploads, comments, and edits) and records them directly as Salesforce records. This provides compliance teams with a complete, audit-ready view of content interactions and document activity without ever leaving the Salesforce interface.
