Rapidly Build Enterprise Apps with Mendix and Box
As businesses embrace digital transformation, the demand for custom applications dramatically outpaces the capacity of most development teams. Developers scramble to meet the needs of a growing number of stakeholders across the front-office and back-office, and often do not move fast enough to cater to the business' needs.
Enter low-code application development platforms. Low-code platforms enable businesses to rapidly design and develop enterprise applications with minimal coding, visual editors, and application lifecycle support.
Today, we’re excited to announce an integration with Mendix, a leading low-code application development platform. The Mendix team developed a Box Connector that allows developers to drag-and-drop Box's content services into Mendix applications. With this new connector, application developers can easily access any function of the Box API - like file upload, search, or preview - to use in their applications. This will enable developers to easily build applications for content-centric processes such as field worker enablement, HR onboarding, expense management, claims submission, and much more.
“Content is the lifeblood of next-generation Smart Apps, powering intelligent, contextual and proactive user experiences," says Mendix CEO Derek Roos. "Together, we can drive digital innovation and transformation for all kinds of organizations by dramatically reducing the time and effort it takes to build content-centric web and mobile applications.”
Many businesses already leverage both Box and Mendix, with some developing custom workflow applications, document automation solutions, and self-service portals - typically in days or weeks compared to months for traditional approaches.
“Looking to increase the speed, quality, and accessibility of the solutions we provide our customers and employees, Endemol Shine Group has embraced a cloud-first, multi-channel application strategy,” said Leon Backbier, ICT Manager, Endemol Shine Group, a global production company behind programs like MasterChef and The Biggest Loser. “For these reasons, we have adopted Mendix for rapid application development and Box for cloud content management. We see a lot of value in using Mendix together with Box to quickly build web and mobile applications that extend the out-of-the-box functionality of Box with engaging UIs and custom business logic.”
Looking ahead, we’re also going to collaborate to develop reusable application templates to address common business processes for a variety of industries. These templates accelerate the building of applications like project planning, field worker enablement, case management, claims management, clinical trial management, and more.
