Today, I’m excited to announce Box’s intent to acquire e-signature provider SignRequest and to develop Box Sign, natively integrated electronic signatures within Box. SignRequest has developed one of the most loved, intuitive, and powerful e-signature technologies in the market, and we couldn't be more thrilled to bring its value to all of our customers.
As companies continue to rapidly digitize their business processes and workflows in this new era of hybrid work, we know that streamlining digital transactions is more important than ever. As we've engaged with our customers of all sizes on their most pressing digital transformation challenges, we've heard resounding feedback that they need a simpler way to drive end-to-end business processes around their content.
Every single day, more and more transactions are moving from paper-based and manual workflows to the cloud. Banks are bringing on new clients more smoothly; B2B sales teams are closing deals faster; global manufacturers are working with partners more securely; healthcare providers are distributing new medical supplies and vaccines faster and with better coordination; fast-growing companies are onboarding new employees virtually. For all of these critical processes, e-signatures have become an important way business gets done.
This is why we're bringing all the power of secure and compliant e-signatures to Box's cloud content management platform. With the acquisition of SignRequest and expected launch of Box Sign this summer, we'll help our customers complete the full content lifecycle in a single cloud platform. And best of all, we plan to include Box Sign in all of our business and enterprise plans, and integrate it natively with Box's advanced data governance, compliance, and security capabilities -- to support the needs of every size business, in every industry. Looking ahead, this is a significant step for Box in building out the complete Content Cloud. In 2021, we’ll see a shift toward addressing the lasting impacts of distributed teams (even after some workers return to offices, many will not), widespread digital transformation, and an increasingly complex and high-stakes security and regulatory environment. This new reality represents both a challenge and an opportunity for companies to move to more secure, collaborative, productive ways of working. And at the center of this opportunity is content.
In the simplest terms, content is where an organization's unique value resides. It’s the HIPAA-protected clinical trial results for the next groundbreaking vaccine. It’s the blueprint for the innovative new approach to wastewater treatment in flood-affected areas. It’s the winning sales presentation, the game-changing ad campaign, the latest quarter’s financials, the signed contracts with every vendor, partner, employee, and customer. It’s NASA’s designs for its new space station, Farmers Insurance’s confidential claims records, AstraZeneca’s highly regulated pharmaceutical IP, and Oxfam’s humanitarian aid records. Content is the record of an organization’s work and the repository of its most valuable insights. And it’s completely unique to each organization.
There’s no question that content holds extraordinary value. But to realize that value, companies need a single, integrated content layer that keeps their content secure and compliant while empowering teams to collaborate, both internally and externally. The Box Content Cloud gives enterprises one secure platform for managing all of their content, from the moment it’s created to when it’s uploaded, shared, edited, published, approved, signed, classified, and retained.
We're excited to continue on this mission and ensure that every organization can get the most out of their content. And we’re just getting started. Welcome to the Content Cloud!
