Every organization has valuable knowledge locked away in files, folders, and unstructured content. The challenge isn’t just accessing that information — it’s transforming it into actionable content you can use and share. Whether you’re turning meeting notes into presentations, consolidating invoices into financial trackers, or synthesizing data into executive reports, the manual work of document creation slows teams down and introduces inconsistency.

Today, we’re excited to announce that Box AI will integrate with Anthropic’s newly launched Claude Skills API, bringing powerful content creation capabilities directly into your Box workflows. This integration will enable Box users to leverage Claude’s groundbreaking file creation capabilities. With Skills, you can leverage agents to bypass the manual work of creating documents from your content – enabling you to securely turn unstructured data into PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PDFs directly with Box AI, all while respecting existing permissions in Box.

Skills empower you to teach Claude your organization’s workflows and expertise. While Claude is powerful out of the box, Skills packages your specific procedures, brand guidelines, data analysis methods, and institutional knowledge into reusable capabilities that Claude can apply automatically when needed.

"Skills makes it easy for organizations to use their Box content to automate everyday workflows with AI agents," said Amanda Donohue, Head of Product at Anthropic. "With Skills running behind the scenes in Box AI, users can generate new outputs, like turning meeting notes into presentations or consolidating invoices into trackers. Skills let Claude discover and load only the expertise needed for each task, delivering faster, more consistent results."

More about Claude Skills

Today, Anthropic is launching Claude Skills — organized folders of instructions, scripts, and resources that enable AI agents to perform specialized tasks. Skills can capture any type of procedural knowledge, from data analysis workflows and compliance procedures to brand guidelines application and custom business processes across industries. Among their many capabilities, Skills enables sophisticated file creation, making Anthropic the first major model provider to offer programmatic document generation through AI agents, including PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and other professional documents.

Think of Claude Skills as packages of expertise — procedural knowledge that Claude can access exactly when needed, without overloading its context window.

The key innovation is progressive disclosure: Claude autonomously decides which Skills are relevant to your request and loads only what’s necessary. This means Claude can have hundreds of Skills available while only loading what’s relevant to your task, keeping responses fast and efficient. You get faster, more consistent results while maintaining efficiency across even the most complex workflows.

Box AI will leverage the Anthropic’s Skills API to access these document creation capabilities within your Box environment. This means the same Skills that work in Claude.ai and Claude Code will work seamlessly with your Box content — transforming how your teams create documents from existing information.

Skills work everywhere Claude does — from Claude.ai to the API — and soon, directly within Box AI.

From content to creation in seconds

Your Box content holds immense value, and with Claude Skills integrated into Box AI, creating professional documents will be remarkably simple. You’ll be able to describe what you need, select your source files or folders, and let Box AI handle the rest – all while keeping your existing information and your newly generated content secure in Box.

When Skills supports launches in Box AI, you’ll be able to create content from your documents by:

  • Identifying the files you want as a knowledge base
  • Describing the document you need in natural language
  • Letting Box AI and Skills handle the rest

Box AI with Claude Skills will solve the inefficiencies your teams face when spending hours manually creating documents from existing information and converting content from one format to another. By packaging content creation expertise that Box AI can apply instantly to your content — whether you’re working with a single file, multiple documents, folders, or Box Hubs — your teams will spend less time on document formatting, achieve greater consistency across deliverables, and unlock insights from your content faster than ever before.

Built for how you actually work

Whether your team needs financial models, presentation decks, analysis reports, or formatted PDFs, Box AI and Skills will deliver consistent, professional results.

Single file processing: Turn a Box Note into a formatted PDF, or transform a data file into visualizations

Multi-file analysis: Compare spreadsheets, combine multiple business documents into a unified presentation, or synthesize information across related files

Folder-level intelligence: Point Box AI at an entire folder — invoices, reports, project files — and get consolidated outputs that make sense of everything at once

Seamless composability: Skills composes seamlessly — Box AI could automatically apply your brand guidelines Skill while using the financial modeling Skill to create board presentations, combining multiple expertise packages in a single workflow

Security first: As Skills become more widely available, we recommend working with trusted sources and reviewing any custom Skills before deployment to ensure they align with your organization's security policies

The Claude Skills framework means Box AI will load exactly what it needs for each task. No context overload, no manual configuration — just efficient, accurate document creation that scales with your needs.
