Happy Earth Month from the Box Green Team

Hey there, it’s the Box Green Team here wishing you a sustainable Earth Month!
The Green Team is a grassroots (pun intended!) driven group of Boxers who are passionate about all things sustainable and environmentally conscious. We know that collective action by individuals can make a big impact and we have initiatives all year long to educate and encourage Boxers to make more “green” choices.
During our December Box Global Impact Day (which included numerous service activities), we rallied over 60 Boxers to participate in garbage clean up around our Redwood City office in partnership with Save The Shores. In total, we collected 175.5 pounds of waste, of which 14 pounds was recyclable cans and glass. It was a great day full of cross team connection, camaraderie, and community — exactly what we want to be fostering through our group.

For Earth Month, we’re encouraging some friendly competition by posing a challenge each week related to themes of sustainability. From water conservation to reducing our light pollution, we want to both create awareness and take meaningful steps to have a healthier planet. For example, during the first week of April, we focused our efforts on going meatless for the week - sharing facts and trivia around why there is meaningful impact in reducing demand and consumption for meat and how that relates to overall emission reduction in the food industry. We challenged Boxers to share out recipes and pictures of their meatless meals and encouraged Green Team members to try out new meat alternatives.

Another way we’re raising awareness and education is through organizing a virtual movie night. We’ve selected Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire as our movie of choice. Through this virtual watch party, we’re hoping to not only build our community but also learn together about the lesser known impacts of wildfires and what to expect as we continue to experience more and more extreme weather.
We’re also excited to fundraise with Boxers in support of one our own customers, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), an incredible partner who works tirelessly, “to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.” Our team in New York will be returning to a TNC preserve in a couple weeks to continue the work they began last year to plant several hundred native pollinators in the Uplands Farm Sanctuary Meadows! These pollinators were native to Long Island and are vital to local bee and monarch populations.

Finally, if you attend Box’s virtual Content Cloud Summit on May 9th, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from one of our other amazing customers, The Ocean Conservancy, that focuses on, “working with you to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges.” We’re honored to have inspiring partners that we can learn from in this journey to do our part in making the world a greener place!
