Box for G Suite updates at Google Next 2018
As one of the most anticipated cloud technology events of year, Google Cloud Next draws in thousands of attendees over the course of three jam-packed days annually. This year's event featured jam-packed keynotes and over 500 visionary sessions, and Box was thrilled to be a part of the excitement. Featured on the main stage and in multiple sessions over the course of the week, our product leaders treated audiences with actionable insights to help attendees build the right cloud strategy for their business.
Unveiling the new Box for Gmail Add-on
On the first official day of the conference, Derek Lansing, Software Engineering Manager at Box, announced our new integration with Gmail in the breakout sessionGet Productive with Gmail Add-ons. This add-on allows Gmail users to attach Box files and download email attachments to Box without having to leave the Gmail interface.

Derek Lansing gave the audience a live demo of how someone could use the add-on to collaborate on a piece of collateral with external agencies. By streamlining this common workflow and many others, the Box for Gmail Add-on saves users valuable time and also ensures critical content remains secure and compliant in Box.
Leveraging the Google Docs, Sheets and Slides ecosystem
On Wednesday, Sr. Product Manager Michelle Oh spoke in The Google Docs, Sheets & Slides Ecosystem: Stronger Than Ever, and Growing about Box's latest integration with G Suite. In addition to reviewing the overall Box and Google partnership, Michelle also expanded on the many ways that G Suite users can leverage Box to boost productivity and bring intelligence to their content.

These techniques were brought to life in a demo that showed how users could create and edit Google Docs, Sheets and Slides directly from within the Box interface. With these capabilities, teams can work using the tools they know and love, while also ensuring that all of their content remains secure and compliant.
Making sense of content with AI
In Thursday's session Applying Google Cloud AI to Enterprise Content in Box, Faizan Buzdar, Senior Director of Product Management at Box, explained the repercussions of amassing large volumes of content in unstructured formats such as PDF, image and audio files. Because these files contain critical business insights, organizations are often forced to implement manual and costly processes to structure and extract meaning from their content.
Faizan explained how, using revolutionary technology such as Box Skills and Google AI, businesses can apply intelligence to their everyday processes and significantly improve efficiency across the enterprise. Tasks like transcribing audio files and even identifying individuals in video files would be simple with Google's AI capabilities within the Box Skills framework. At the end of the session, Faizan revealed six key principles for the audience to keep in mind when applying AI to their organizations.
Google Cloud Next was a whirlwind of an event this year, and the entire Box team was grateful to have been a part of it. We had a blast connecting with attendees and showing off the latest developments in Box-Google partnership. See you at next year's event!
