This past week, Boxers across the US celebrated our 4th annual Family Day! This event is hosted and sponsored by our Families at Box (FAB) Employee Resource Community (ERC).
Box Family Day has become a staple of summer here. I’ve heard from several Boxers that their kids look forward to this all year and want to plan their summer around being able to attend. For us, Family Day spotlights the loved ones Boxers hold dear and celebrates the importance these loved ones play in the lives of Boxers. We love that we can show our families a peek into life at Box and the incredible culture we foster daily.

With a whopping 224 of Boxers and 476 of loved ones signed up this year, Family Day has become a pillar event for employees. The theme of the event was Space, with a variety of activities for all ages. Some key highlights of the day include the Mission to Mars Obstacle Course, Build Your Own Rocket, and avirtual puppet show. Whether Boxers and their families were in-office, at a WeWork office, or joining remotely, there was much fun to be had!

With our community events at Box, we drive intersectionality and our ERCs’ commitment to supporting one another.
- In honor of Juneteenth, the Black Excellence Network (BEN) ERC sponsored fun treats in our offices
- In Redwood City, Chicago, and New York, our BEN team had treats delivered from local Black-owned businesses in the area
- In our Austin office, Boxers and their families could stop by the Sobolo making station to make their own refreshing drink (Sobolo is a West African drink made from hibiscus)
- And in the New York office, our Pride ERC sponsored bagels in honor of Pride month to welcome families as they arrived
Attendees loved honoring of important cultural celebrations and the extra attention to detail.

This Family Day, we felt it was important to find ways to give back to our Box community and beyond. Each office hosted a Book Drive in collaboration with Box.org. Boxers were able to bring in books to swap with others, with all leftover books going to local nonprofits in the area.
Our Family Day Book Drive tradition started last year and was so popular, we knew it was something important to bring back. It was great to see Boxers share their favorite reads and find new books to try. Books were donated to our non-profit partners: CASA, Open Books, the Brooklyn Book Bodega, and BookSpring.

In addition to the Book Drive, we launched a fundraiser for the Box Stands Together Fund in honor of Family Day. This fund provides monetary assistance to qualifying Boxers and their families facing hardships like natural disasters or fires. Our Box.org team was able to match funds 2:1 up to $2,500 to maximize our impact. While we don’t have a final fundraiser total yet (our fundraiser is still ongoing) we’re commited to using Family Day to help raise money for Boxers facing difficult circumstances.

Lastly, I want to highlight our incredible team of volunteers who stepped up to make the magic that is Family Day! Boxers planned activities, decorated offices, took pictures, and welcomed guests throughout the day.
Whether they were able to volunteer this year or not, we want to acknowledge all our Boxers who work hard to build community every day at Box.
