Box acquires Crooze to transform Enterprise Content Management

Today, I’m excited to share that the Content Cloud continues to expand with the acquisition of Crooze. This acquisition will help power our customers’ most mission-critical use cases centered around key business content, such as contracts, digital assets, controlled documents, enterprise libraries, and much more. 

As a key partner of Box for the past several years, Crooze has built solutions for these use cases exclusively on top of the Box platform, and its team brings vast experience across the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space. We’re stoked to bring the Crooze team on board to join us in our mission of powering how the world works together.

Enterprises today continue to struggle with the productivity, security, and cost challenges posed by having their content and workflows fragmented across a variety of legacy on-premises ECM systems and point solutions. Now more than ever, they are looking to modernize and transition to cloud-based systems and take advantage of the rapid innovation in AI. By natively integrating Crooze technology and infusing the power of Box AI and the rest of the Content Cloud, we’ll reshape what enterprises can do with their content. A prime example is using Box AI to automatically extract metadata from content, directly addressing the problem of metadata creation at scale - previously the kryptonite for productive metadata-powered experiences and workflows.

Crooze technology brings a no-code business process application builder, an extensive set of metadata tools, customizable dashboard views, and content automation — building on our secure, intelligent Content Cloud. With Crooze, customers can quickly and seamlessly address key use cases with their content in Box, including:

• Managing contracts: Organizations can digitally transform contract repositories and processes with customizable metadata-powered views, forms, on-demand document generation, streamlined e-signatures with Box Sign, and automated workflows with Box Relay. This enables efficient handling of contractual documents such as NDAs, vendor agreements, leases, and more.
• Managing digital assets: Marketing teams can organize, manage, share and distribute assets, automate processes through Box Relay to manage end-to-end asset lifecycles, deliver curated assets internally and externally, and streamline metadata management with robust tools for enhanced productivity. 
• Managing document libraries: Departments can establish a secure document library on Box for content like corporate records, HR policies, and financial records. Teams can protect documents with Box Shield, enforce retention with Box Governance, manage metadata at scale (by applying, editing, and searching across thousands of files), and automate reviews and approvals with Box Relay.

Looking ahead, we’re continuing to offer and support Crooze products and services, and in parallel are working on integrating the Crooze technology natively into the Content Cloud. This will help power richer, seamless, and more customizable content experiences and workflows, while accelerating the transition away from legacy on-premises systems.
