Building trust with our customers and partners

Building trust with our customers and partners

We have an inherent need to trust others and for others to trust us. It saves time, reduces tension, and makes life more predictable and enjoyable. It also frees us up to deal with areas where trust, understanding, and predictability are — let’s just say — harder to come by.

It’s the same with companies. They want to be able to trust other companies (just as they want to be trusted), but they also have a fiduciary responsibility to make sure those companies are trustworthy. Call it “trust but verify.”

Box knows this and would like to make it easier for you, our customers, to verify that you can trust us. With this goal in mind, today we are putting a spotlight on five areas we see as key to earning your trust: security, privacy, reliability, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and transparency.

Security

Data is the lifeblood of business, which is why we prioritize providing security so that together we can protect your data and your customers' data. This includes reviewing source code and the third parties that contribute to our service to prevent malicious actors and costly errors from affecting your work and ours. From our early days as a start-up to now (and moving forward), Box has sought compliance with various security standards and certification regimes to demonstrate our commitment to security.

Visit the Box Trust Center to learn more about our security compliance, including C5, FedRAMP, ISMAP, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and SOC 1, 2, and 3. Additionally, check out our security and compliance product page to learn more about how we help our customers with their security and compliance. You can also check out the Box Trust Partner Program to see how our integration partners extend Box’s security and compliance capabilities to support various use cases.

Privacy

We consider your privacy rights fundamental to our services. That’s why we made a commitment early on to offer customers a cloud content management platform and product offering that not only met, but surpassed industry standards. To learn more about our privacy practices and the choices you have with regard to your personal information, see our Privacy Notice, Cookie Notice, Regional Information, and Subprocessors page. To learn more about how we meet the highest bar in data protection, visit our GDPR webpage, and see how you can get CCPA-ready with Box here.

Reliability

To do your best work, you need products and services that you can count on to work as expected, if not better. That’s why we keep all updates on our applications and incidents on the Box Status page. In Box Support, you can read about our approach to Incident Response and Communications, and also find a list of Known Product Issues.

Reliability also implies that a company has the financial wherewithal — including capitalization, growth, and a track record of meeting financial targets — to continue innovating over time. Visit our Investor Relations page to read our Financial Reports, our approach to Corporate Governance, and our Investor FAQ page.

ESG

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities impact our lives in important ways. Customers, investors, and current and prospective employees tell us they care about what we’re doing to address these issues, and we take these areas just as seriously as they do.

At Box, ESG is woven into the fabric of our culture. On our ESG page, you can learn how we’re protecting our planet, investing in people and communities, and acting with integrity. Also, see our 18-page ESG Framework — published in March 2022 — to learn more about what we’ve done in ESG-related areas and what we have planned. You can read about how we’re supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion while working to understand and improve our energy footprint.

Transparency

Transparency is necessary for accountability, and we can’t have “trust but verify” without accountability. At Box, we look forward to sharing more trust-related info with you and our 100,000+ other customers — and in doing so, holding ourselves accountable.
