Bring flexible workflows to your users, teams and applications

Organizations are always on the lookout for new ways to gain the edge on their competition, especially when it comes to streamlining operations and improving productivity.

But when you’re faced with productivity challenges, you need a technology partner with tools that adapt to the way you work. Whether you’re dealing with an employee leaving the company, repetitive tasks, or complex workflows involving multiple apps across different departments, you need a solution that can keep up.

A few years ago, we introduced Box Relay to automate content-centric processes with a simple, no-code workflow builder. Today, thousands of customers use Box Relay. Whether you’re an end-user, an admin, or even a developer, Box Relay continues to provide you the flexibility to create automated, content-centric workflows at scale, across your favorite applications.

At Sargento Foods, we live to serve our employees and our communities. Relay has helped us significantly streamline our client onboarding and capital allocation processes, and these new capabilities enable my team to further engage and empower our organization to get work done faster” -Roshan Kodihalli, Digital Workplace Lead, Sargento Foods Inc.

That’s why we’re excited to share three new capabilities to provide you with even greater flexibility:

  • Scheduled workflows:Build personalized individual and team workflows, so your processes run like clockwork
  • Workflow ownership: Admins are empowered to create workflows aligned to business processes, then hand them off to process owners across departments
  • Workflow trigger APIs: Developers can extend business processes to go across applications

Improve individual and team productivity with scheduled workflows

Scheduled workflows enable hassle-free, recurring business processes. That means individuals or teams can automatically kick off critical workflows within a preferred window of time. Plus, it gives them the flexibility to create recurring workflows at a cadence that make sense for the way they work — daily, weekly, monthly or annually.

Improve individual and team productivity with scheduled workflows

Whether you're scheduling a month-end financial statement review, a quarterly business review, or even a recurring weekly task, scheduled workflows ensure processes get kicked off on time, every time, and nothing falls through the cracks. For example, sales executives can create a weekly task to share their account reports to leadership on Monday mornings. With workflow automation handling their everyday tasks, sales executives can focus on closing deals.

Adapt to organizational needs by transferring workflows

With workflow ownership transfer in Relay, you can easily switch ownership to any user in your enterprise. This new feature enables secure process handoffs between peers or from IT to process owners, so you can easily manage workflows, and adapt to organizational changes.

Connect your applications and enable cross-system workflows

With ownership transfer, IT can set up Relay Workflows for departments to own and manage. For example, legal departments can enlist IT to help create contract management processes that their teams can continue to own and customize, once IT transfers the workflow over. Now, the legal team now has an automated contract management workflow that meets their needs, and IT has the flexibility to move on and focus on what matters most.

Connect your applications and enable cross-system workflows

Workflow trigger APIs enable your teams to kick off workflows from external systems. When an action occurs in an external system, a Relay workflow is automatically initiated in Box. Critical business processes like employee or vendor onboarding can begin in an external system or application and end with automated folder structures or assigned tasks in Box.

Adapt to organizational needs by transferring workflows

For example, onboarding a new marketing agency requires a new account opening in Salesforce. When a new account gets created in Salesforce, a Relay workflow is triggered, automatically creating a folder structure in Box, adding template files and assigning tasks to people involved to move the engagement forward. This extends productivity across your entire technology stack.

Your teams need the flexibility to simplify the way they work with flexible workflows. With these new capabilities and Box Relay now included in all business plans, you can bring flexible workflows to all your users, teams, and applications.
