Box at AWS re:Invent 2025: Securing the content layer for agentic AI

Enterprise AI is hitting a critical bottleneck. As organizations move beyond AI experiments to deploying autonomous agents that handle real workflows, they're discovering a fundamental problem: AI agents need access to business content, but traditional integrations create security risks and data silos.

IT leaders face an impossible choice: Enable the AI capabilities their business teams demand, or maintain the governance controls they've spent years building.

Why Content + AI matters

As enterprises embrace agentic AI — where autonomous agents handle multi-step workflows like compliance reviews, contract analysis, and RFP management — the content layer becomes critical infrastructure. These agents need to access documents, collaborate across systems, and make decisions based on current information, all while respecting existing security policies. That's the challenge Box is solving, and it's why we had such a significant presence at AWS re:Invent 2025.

What we announced

This week marked a major milestone in our partnership with AWS, with Box featured in the AWS keynote and several new offerings that make secure, content-aware AI workflows easier to deploy:

New AWS Marketplace Listings (Available Now):

  • Box MCP Server: A secure bridge between AI agents and your enterprise content that respects Box's granular permission model. Whether you're using Anthropic Claude, GitHub Copilot, or other AI tools, this provides a single, governed integration point.
  • Box MCP + Amazon Quick Suite Solution: Business users can interact with Box content directly through the Quick Suite chat experiencegenerating documents, extracting insights, and automating workflows while maintaining full governance controls.

Coming in Early 2026 (for qualified customers):

  • Box on AWS Marketplace: Purchase Box directly through AWS Marketplace for cost savings against existing AWS commitments, consolidated billing, and simplified vendor management.
  • Amazon Bedrock Models in Box AI: Box AI will be powered by Amazon Bedrock models, enabling AI agents to automate complex processes while operating exclusively on governed content within Box.

Our expanded AWS partnership

Behind these offerings is a new multi-year strategic collaboration agreement bringing together Box's Intelligent Content Management platform with AWS's agentic AI services, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q Developer, Amazon Strands, Kiro, and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

Looking ahead

As AI agents become more autonomous and handle increasingly complex workflows, the organizations that succeed will be those that can deploy this technology without compromising the governance foundations they've built. These integrations represent a step toward that future, where AI can work alongside business content as a trusted participant in the enterprise, not as a security exception.

The Box MCP server and Box + Amazon Quick Suite solution are available now on AWS Marketplace. For more information, visit the Box blog.
