Box Accessibility Restored for Customers
This morning, as you may have seen, a widespread internet Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on a major DNS provider, Dyn, resulted in an unprecedented scale of performance degradation across the web. Services that relied on Dyn for their DNS --including Twitter, Netflix, Zendesk, PayPal, Box and many others-- were inaccessible by many users for a number of hours.
At Box, we've had teams across our company including engineering, networking, and operations working hard to resume accessibility to Box, while Dyn has equally been working to recover their systems. We have now restored full access to all Box services including the Box API, and customers should now be able to access their Box accounts as usual. It's also very important to note that this was not a data breach, and there has been no impact to the integrity of our service or customer data.
We are deeply sorry for the experience this has caused for our customers, and are looking for ways to mitigate situations like this in the future. If you continue to experience any issues with your access to Box, please visit https://community.box.com.
Thanks,
Aaron Levie
