Box and iWork: real-time collaboration on Pages, Numbers, and Keynote

At Box, our mission is to power how the world works together - enabling companies to be more efficient, employees to be more productive, and businesses to provide next-level customer experiences.

Key to achieving this mission is our open ecosystem, where Box works seamlessly with best-of-breed apps and platforms, including iOS. We’ve worked with Apple for years, to provide more ways for people to collaborate with the apps and devices they love to use. In September, we launched our integration with the new Files app, released as part of iOS 11.

Today, we’re excited to announce another integration with Apple: Box now integrates with iWork, enabling users to create, preview and collaborate on Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files from within Box. Over 80,000 businesses are using Box to store and share files with their teams. Many are also using Pages, Numbers and Keynote to create beautiful documents, spreadsheets, and presentations on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Now, users can collaborate in real-time on iWork files from Box or directly in iWork apps, with all changes saved securely back to Box.

How it works

Create, preview and edit iWork files in Box

  • Work on iWork files within the Box web app (from a Mac or PC browser), with all changes automatically saved in Box. Easily access prior versions.
  • Previews make it easy for users to review selected files before opening and add comments for collaborators without needing to download the file.

Collaborate in real-time on iWork files stored in Box

  • Create a new iWork file directly from Box, and invite team members to collaborate.
  • When you open the document in iWork on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, see who is currently editing the document in real-time, and simultaneously make changes to a single document as a team.

How to get started

Getting started with the integration is easy. For enterprise accounts, iWork collaboration must be turned on by your organization's admin. This can be done in the Box Admin Console, by clicking Settings, then Apps. To turn on iWork collaborative editing, select "iWork Collaboration." To enable Box preview of iWork documents in browser, select "iWork Previews."

With this new iWork integration, Box now integrates with all of the major productivity suites, including Office365 and G Suite, to ensure employees are as productive as possible, team collaboration is easy, and files are securely managed.
