Going Global: Box Achieves ISO 27001 Certification

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that Box has received our formal certification for the ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems standard.  This certification demonstrates our commitment not only to the security and control of our customers’ data, but also our commitment to our global customer base. We started down this path last year and our compliance efforts are gaining steam – we received our SOC-1/SSAE16 Type II, SOC-2 Type II report and announced our support for HIPAA compliance in just the past quarter.

If you’re unfamiliar with ISO 27001, it’s the international standard for information security management systems (ISMS) and demonstrates how the policies and controls we have put in place at Box protect user data.  In short, the standard prescribes requirements and best practices for systematically building, deploying, verifying and managing information, content and data.

While this is an important certification for Box, it’s just one more step along our long-term roadmap and commitment to providing the highest level of transparency and assurance to our customers about the quality and security of our platform, top to bottom.

It’s also a critical component of our ability to serve our international customers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia – where we’ve seen our customer growth more than double in the past year. And, if you’re in Paris or Munich next month, our Box World Tour stops in those cities are great opportunities to learn about how Box gives you better security, control and visibility over your content.  For more information, or to register, check the sites for Box World Tour: Paris (4 June 2013) and Box World Tour: Munich (12 June 2013)!
