Announcing the Bigger, Better, All-New Box Experience

Our CEO, Aaron Levie, just finished his big keynote at BoxWorks earlier, where he made some major announcements about what we’re doing with Box. Our vision: make it incredibly easy for our customers – 140,000 businesses and 14 million users – to share, access and manage content from anywhere. As Aaron demonstrated, we’ve created a brand new experience on Box that makes it easier than ever to discover, connect to and engage with the collaborators and content you care about.

Brand-New Look and Feel

We’ve given Box a new header and look that puts search at the center of your experience. You’ll see relevant results as you type in the search bar, and can even hover over a file to see who created it. With easily-recognizable icons, navigating anywhere within Box from the new header is simple and straightforward. All your tasks and pending messages are in the header, too, so now it takes just a click to find what you need to work on, no matter where you are in Box.

Connect with Colleagues in a Flash

If you have a corporate email address, you can now quickly find other people to collaborate with at your company and start working with them. Just click on a name in the right sidebar to start sharing and collaborating – you’ll find coworkers you didn’t even know were using Box! For a quick glance at who’s using Box in your organization, there’s a special tab that lists everyone in your domain.

Create and Edit New Documents Right from Box

Our Box Edit beta has been hugely successful, so we decided to make it a bigger, more integrated part of Box. It’s coming out of beta, and now you can edit content directly from Box in the preview page – images, PowerPoint presentations and even CAD files – with whatever programs you already have installed on your computer. Even better, you can use Box Edit to create new Word, Excel or PowerPoint files without leaving Box, and our enhanced lock/unlock functionality lets you lock a document you’re editing so no one else can make conflicting changes. We think Box Edit is going to be a big part of how you use Box – download it by clicking ‘Edit’ on any file preview page to test out all the new features.

Collaboration Around Content Made Easy

Over the last few months, we’ve focused on adding features that make working together on important content easy – from the ability to respond to a comment via email, to tagging colleagues and assigning tasks.  Today we’re adding one more, the ability to ‘like’ a file. We think it’s the easiest way to note approval or just tell a coworker you like the work they’ve done.
