The need to securely share your files quickly and easily while knowing what’s going on with your business is extremely important. That’s why we’re excited to announce the updated Box for DocuSign integration today. Now when you’re working within DocuSign, you can select documents from Box you want to sign or send for signature and prepare it in just a few clicks. Completed documents automatically save back to Box and can be accessed from anywhere, on any device.

With today’s update to Box for DocuSign, you have the flexibility to start from whatever application you’re in: Box, DocuSign, or from your iPhone, Android or other mobile device. No matter where you start, with a few clicks you can easily select the recipients you need to sign a document, tag the document, and send it for signature. Once the document is fully executed, a copy is automatically stored in Box so you always have the most up to date version at your fingertips.

Box for DocuSign is a popular integration here at Box and is used throughout the company. When we sign up a new customer, our sales rep will send the contract to be signed in DocuSign. The customer returns the signed contract and it’s automatically saved back to Box. Our business development team uses Box for DocuSign to red-line or edit contract drafts, and then collect signatures on executed copies. Even our people ops team uses Box for DocuSign to extend offer letters to candidates, as well as prepare internal stock grants for employees to sign and return.

With Box for DocuSign, your team can be more productive regardless of where you are or what device you’re using. How will your team use Box for DocuSign?

What are the odds of a lost mobile device affecting your organization? Pretty good, according to a recent BYOD survey conducted by MobileIron. 55 percent of the companies surveyed reported some form of security issue in the past year, mostly in conjunction with lost or stolen phones. With figures like this, it’s no surprise that as BYOD programs expand, so has the interest in BYOD security.

Protect Yourself: Box for MobileIron AppConnect

Box is designed with mobility, control and content security in mind, and many of our customers choose Box to help them tackle tough industry regulations and compliance policies. This is why Box has partnered with MobileIron to offer the security, visibility, configuration and policy management that IT needs and the convenience and productivity that users expect.

Today we’re excited to launch a brand new mobile app, Box for MobileIron AppConnect, that’s designed to work with the new MobileIron AppConnect mobile application security solution. It offers a seamless way for companies to secure mobile apps on a device while keeping a user’s corporate and personal data separate. For businesses that need enhanced security controls, MobileIron AppConnect also offers DLP features and lets admins set additional authentication policies in order to access and install corporate-sanctioned apps.

With our integration, IT can control the flow of content out of Box, as well as easily restrict printing, opening files in other apps and copying and pasting sensitive data. Additionally, MobileIron and Box customers can:

Automate app installation

Invisibly manage policy changes across an enterprise

Provide SSO to enterprise applications on the mobile device

Keep sensitive information off compromised or jail-broken devices

Separate personal and corporate information and settings without impacting employee’s devices

As more people—and more businesses—choose Windows phones and tablets, we continue to invest in our Box for Windows apps to give users more access to content and businesses more control and security.

In fact, interest in Microsoft’s latest platforms has led to more than half a million downloads of our Box for Windows 8 and Box for Windows Phone apps since launch. We have met this demand by recently releasing some amazing features that let you do more with Box on your Windows devices. And today, we’re adding even more features to give users and businesses better control and enhanced security over their content.

Let’s take a look at what you can do on your Windows Phones and Windows 8 PCs now.

Box for Windows already gives you easy access to your content, with the ability to preview over 75 types of documents—including complex ones like Photoshop or AutoCAD files! It’s also designed around the unique features of the Windows platform, making use of live tiles, semantic zoom, and charms on Windows 8.

Today’s updates will also give you more control over the content in your account. Now, you can add, remove, and change access permissions for any collaborator in any folder that you own. This is great if you’re away from your desk and need to quickly change how someone sees your content or if you want to share something that you just uploaded from your phone.

We’re also extending some of our enterprise security and device management features to these Windows devices. First, we’ve added two-step login verification, which users or admins can enable to keep accounts safe. With this feature, a one-time code is sent to the user’s mobile phone, which they will use in addition to their password to login to Box.

Next, admins can tailor Box access to their specific IT policies. For example, you can require an application-specific passcode lock and set a custom timeout for the lock. To prevent data leaks, admins can also restrict the ability to download files locally to the devices. All of these new features are in addition to the device pinning and remote logout capabilities we already offer.

Finally, we’re offering more access today for the Swedes and Finns, with two new localizations in Swedish and Finnish!

Go download the free Box for Windows 8 or Windows Phone app today— and try out the security settings for yourself! We’re always open to your feedback @BoxHQ or via windows-support@box.com.

I’m incredibly excited to share that we’re acquiring Crocodoc, bringing its amazing team and technology to Box.

Whether or not you’re familiar with Crocodoc, it has undoubtedly powered many of your online interactions with documents. I first met the company’s founder, Ryan Damico, a few years ago as Crocodoc was emerging as an unstoppable service with a truly audacious goal: to reimagine documents in the cloud. Today, Crocodoc provides the absolute best way to render and view documents on the web. Its leading HTML5 technology powers online content experiences for more than 100 services and has made hundreds of millions of document previews seamless and beautiful for users.

Viewing a document on Yammer? That’s Crocodoc. Looking at a resume in Linkedin Recruiter? Crocodoc again. Reviewing an assignment on Edmodo? Crocodoc. Getting directions from Siri? Not Crocodoc. But you get the point.

<iframe src="http://box.crocodoc.com/documents-reimagined/" seamless allowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true"style="border:none; width:750px; height:440px;">

It’s rare that two companies have such remarkably similar visions, philosophies and cultures. From the beginning, Box’s mission has been to make it incredibly easy to share, access and collaborate on content from any device. Crocodoc’s magic makes that content beautiful and accessible, freeing users from their desktops. We knew we had to work with them. After about a dozen meetings, a McDonald’s lunch and a Pho dinner, we finally struck a deal to join forces and bring the best document experiences to the world.

Together, we’re setting out to improve every experience you have with documents on the internet. Remember how horrible watching videos with RealPlayer used to be? YouTube came along and fundamentally remade the online video experience. Similarly, Flickr, Facebook and others have made photos beautiful on any device. But documents have yet to tip for the web. They’re still clunky and awkward, often forcing users out of their browser and into a desktop application.

But content sits at the center of every business and nearly every business transaction. When you’re working on Box, you should have a remarkably beautiful, fast and seamless experience for viewing your documents. We’re going to deeply integrate Crocodoc’s HTML5 viewing technology into our core product, creating an all-new experience for the 15 million individuals and 150,000 businesses on Box.

And perhaps even more importantly, we’re going to extend that experience to all the other applications businesses use. Crocodoc’s technology will become a core part of our platform, powering content experiences for every application that touches content, including HR software, e-learning tools, document signing solutions and healthcare applications.

We’re building the enterprise platform that will power every content interaction for hundreds of thousands of businesses and developers. Storing files is only the beginning: creating amazing experiences around those files is where the magic is. All seven Crocodocers will be joining us to make this a reality across multiple areas of our business, with Ryan serving as Director of Platform.

Stay tuned as we reimagine documents on Box and applications everywhere.

The consumerization of IT and evolution of the cloud are shaking up the healthcare industry. With four out of five doctors using mobile devices for work-related tasks, mHealth and BYOD are creating new challenges for CMIOs and CIOs at hospitals and large integrated delivery networks across the nation. And as if that weren’t enough, provider and patient frustrations continue to mount over the lack of interoperability and file sharing in healthcare.

Well hang tight! At Box, we’re shaking up healthcare, too – in all the right ways – helping providers, payers and patients address the major pain points in healthcare around the lack of interoperability and basic file sharing. Our secure cloud collaboration platform provides medical teams with anywhere access to health information, enables collaboration between physicians and nurses for improved care coordination, eliminates paper workflows, and optimizes IT investments in applications, infrastructure and maintenance.

Building on our industry momentum, today we announced that Box supports HIPAA/HITECH compliance – post the omnibus ruling – and that we’re signing Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with healthcare customers. This is significant, as it means that unlike consumer cloud applications, Box is a trusted healthcare partner for personal health information (PHI) such as medical records, images, lab reports and so on.

As part of our strategy to help tackle challenges around care coordination, clinical documentation and basic interoperability, we added 10 new healthcare application partners: Doximity, drchrono, HealthTap, iPaxera, MediCopy, iMedViewer, Medigram, PostureScreen Mobile, TigerText and Umbie Dental Care.

With the TigerText partnership, clients can securely and easily share patient info such as images, reports, lab reports, and any documents stored in Box to help coordinate care delivery. This collaboration addresses the BYOD and texting problems plaguing hospitals, while also improving patient care and hospital efficiency.

In addition, we announced a seed investment in drchrono, the first EHR company that we are working with in order to help physicians access images, lab reports and more from Box.

Finally, we announced a special offer with Doximity, the nation’s largest professional network for doctors. With Doximity, physicians can use their iPhone or Android device or desktop computer to quickly and securely connect with nearly any US physician to collaborate on patient care or find the right medical expert on a topic. Until the end of the year, Doximity’s 150,000+ members can get a free Box account with 50GB storage.

Hundreds of healthcare customers are already using Box, including Beaumont and Henry Ford Health Systems, Garden City Hospital, HealthTrust Europe, Johns Hopkins HealthCare Solutions and San Juan Regional Medical Center, just to name a few. Their use cases are powerful and varied – from medical teams being able to securely access PHI to health systems, payors, patients and third parties sharing files to better coordinate care.

Al Fadool, the CIO of Garden City Hospital, will be sharing his thoughts on the secure cloud for healthcare during a webinar at 10am PT on May 2. We’ll be joined by industry expert, Shahid Shah, A.K.A. “The Healthcare IT Guy” and Missy Krasner, former founding member of Google Health and Executive in Residence (EIR) at Morgenthaler Ventures. I’m excited to share that Missy’s working with Box as a strategic advisor for healthcare. Please join our conversation by registering here.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the updated Box for Jive, an integration that brings together the best of Box with the best of Jive – an enterprise social business software – so you can get more done. This combined experience puts your favorite Box features like commenting, drag and drop uploading and editing into your Jive experience. Plus, updates in Jive now show up in Box, so regardless of which product you’re in you always have the most up to date content and information.

With Box for Jive, activities in Box like edits and comments are seen in Jive, and any changes in Jive are instantly updated in Box. These updated changes and comments are kept in sync so that anyone can work on their important presentation or spreadsheet, collaborate with their team, and stay up to date on the latest version! The best part is that with Box for Jive, you can still stay up to date regardless of where you’re working, so you’re able to access the most recent version from your tablet, phone or computer.

A company that uses Jive for its social communication and Box for file sharing can now use both together, giving teams the best collaboration experience. We’re excited for the new integration and the many ways to use it – how will you use Box and Jive together?

To kick the season off right, we’ll be holding two contests: one this week and one next week.

The first contest starts today! We’re asking Box clients to tell us on Twitter how Box makes a difference for them and their company with the hashtag #winwithbox. One person will win the chance to have themselves, their company name/logo, and their tweet featured on the Giants Jumbotron during the second inning, as well as two tickets to the game, on us! The deadline to submit your tweet is next Wednesday, April 10, at 12pm PST. The winner will be announced on Thursday, April 11.

For more on how the San Francisco Giants use Box to quickly and easily promote their PR and marketing operations, check out this post. Happy baseball season, and go Giants!

The following is a guest post from Shreyas Sadalgi, Head of Business Development at Centrify, one of Box’s newest partners for managing device security and app identity. This article is the fifth in our series about security, collaboration, and content in the cloud.

There’s nothing technology innovators like more than a good debate, and there’s a fierce one raging in enterprise mobility. The BYOX effect (“Bring Your Own X”)—where X can be ”device,” “app,” “server,” or even “expectations”— is fueling C-level discussions in every organization, from government to education to the enterprise. Recent discussions at Mobile World Congress and RSA 2013 are proof that IT is evolving, but there is still a lot to do to truly enable people-centric IT.

To get enterprise mobility right, we believe you must look beyond basic device and app management and directly attack the practical challenges that hinder mobile productivity and the adoption of more secure services. Box and Centrify share a vision: we believe it’s possible to deliver a seamless experience for business users without compromising enterprise-grade security.

To help you start this debate in your organization, here are three critical factors to consider when you’re evaluating a unified mobile security and cloud identity solution.

Create Zero Sign On Experiences for Web and Mobile

The first challenge we’re helping businesses overcome is making secure access to sanctioned apps and services seamless and simple. When a customer faces too many authentication hurdles, they’re more willing to “skip process” and choose an easier (and often less secure) path. With Centrify’s Zero Sign On and Mobile Authentication Service (MAS) solutions, we’re the industry’s first and only “one-click” access to mobile apps like Box.

Evaluate Dual Persona Support with Containerization

The next hurdle is giving businesses better choices to manage applications within Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions. Together, Box and Centrify are working with the leading containerization vendors to ensure secure, seamless access to content inside the container. Now you can pick your favorite dual persona technology—like the recent demonstration of the Samsung KNOX container at Mobile World Congress—without compromising the one-click experience or enterprise-grade security.

Seek Frictionless MDM and MAM

Finally, we know that managing identity, MDM, and Mobile Application Management (MAM) together can be a complex task. As an alternative to third-party MDM solutions, we help our customers seamlessly integrate mobile devices into an existing Active Directory infrastructure, giving IT secure central management of mobile devices. The Centrify Cloud Manager enables IT managers to centrally deploy and manage access to SaaS apps like Box, apply Active Directory role-based access controls, and run activity reports.

We’d love to share more with you. To learn how Centrify gives Box users Zero Sign-On access and provides IT with centralized management and security while leveraging the existing infrastructure, check out our upcoming joint webinar on Thursday, March 28 at 10am PDT! Can’t make the webinar? You can also experience Centrify for free.

If you’ve ever tried to explain a detailed idea over email or on the phone, you know it can often take you ten times longer than it would if you could easily just show the person on the other end. Box’s new integration with screen recording and audio capture tool Screencast-O-Matic is designed to make that process easier. The integration helps you record audio and video from your desktop, upload them to Box, and easily share the link from your Box account.

The Box integration also ensures that sharing content is safe and secure. I’m able to secure my links to only certain trusted viewers, track their access, and report on what content people are finding most useful.

Screencast-O-Matic is easy to use, available for both PC and Mac, and has no limits on recording length. Our customer success, sales, marketing and product teams at Box all consider it one of their favorite and most-used applications—I use it every day to show off new features to customers!

Here are some other great uses for the Box and Screencast-O-Matic integration:

Sharing instructional videos between teachers and students

Sales and product demonstrations

Virtual training

Recording a demo video of your sweet Box Hackathon project

Head over to Screencast-O-Matic to try out the Box integration in your Pro account. If you aren’t yet a Pro member, consider upgrading to enjoy Box connectivity, non-watermarked recordings, unlimited recording time, and video-editing tools.

Once you check out the integration, let us know what you think here or on Twitter at @BoxHQ and @Screencasto!
