Cloud Collaboration for Life Sciences: Announcing New Pharmaceutical Company Customers and Growth

By

One of the most exciting things about Box is working on new and innovative ways to help healthcare workers better collaborate across the healthcare continuum. Every day, we work with providers, payors and administrators.

In April of 2013 we announced that we supported HIPAA compliance and were signing HIPAA Business Associate Agreements with our customers. In less than a year, we’ve seen six-fold growth and announced major new hospital customers like UnityPoint Health, Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) and Mount Sinai Health System.

Today, we’re shining the light on a different segment of our healthcare vertical: life sciences. Leading pharmaceutical and life sciences companies Boston Scientific and Jazz Pharmaceuticals have recently chosen Box as their primary platform for managing documents and research collaboration. These companies join a rich ecosystem of innovative Box customers, including AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly and Company and Edwards Lifesciences.

All of these organizations face similar challenges: the need to accelerate and streamline research, to enable mobility and sales productivity and to foster global collaboration across divisions and outside research partners. Life science and medical device companies can now use Box to move critical information like research materials, sales collateral, training videos and efficacy studies into the cloud, dramatically improving the speed and flow of information sharing. And, they now have a secure platform they trust to connect with external partners, contractors and outside research sites.

How Life Sciences Customers Are Using Box

Boston Scientific will deploy Box to 23,000 global employees in an effort to enable more efficient, secure and user-friendly access to content on desktops and mobile devices. Their mobile sales force increasingly requires access to the latest FDA regulated collateral and information while on the road, and Box will play a key role to make their iPads an effective communication tool with physicians and other healthcare providers.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals selected Box to enable internal and external collaboration while still meeting critical IT requirements for security. Deployed company-wide, Box will be their primary tool for document collaboration and centralized content management for a global, highly mobile workforce.

AstraZeneca chose Box to power their new way of work, increasing security around their critical intellectual property for faculty, staff and researchers. Their mobile sales teams use Box to access FDA-regulated collateral on mobile devices, or even when offline.

And, long-term Box customer Eli Lilly built its innovative global IT strategy around Box. The multi-phase initiative has increased the productivity, effectiveness and capabilities of thousands of mobile employees by deploying cloud applications including Box, Veeva and MobileIron on more than 20,000. Lilly also is pioneering new use cases based on the Box OneCloud ecosystem, integrating mobile apps like Notability, Outline+, iThoughts and iAnnotate into core business processes.
