Introducing Skyhigh Secure for Box

By

What do spell check and data loss prevention (DLP) have in common? At first glance, it’s not much, but both technologies serve a similar purpose: they protect us from embarrassing errors at different parts of the content lifecycle.

Whether they’re writing a report or sharing information, most people want to do the right thing. But as business accelerates, we sometimes lose track of specific content policies or the details buried deep within documents. DLP is a failsafe that helps fill this gap. Or, in other words, DLP is to collaboration what spellcheck is to word processing – don’t conduct important business without it.

Today, we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Skyhigh Networks, an emerging leader in cloud visibility and enablement. Their newest product, Skyhigh Secure for Box, provides scalable DLP for Box customers, and is an important step towards strengthening content protection in the cloud. (As you’ll recall, Content Protection is one of the five pillars of Secure Collaboration).

Last week, we discussed the acceleration of Enterprise IT Transformation, driven largely by the growth of cloud capabilities, and its growing influence on how even traditional organizations operate. Particularly in regulated industries, these same firms need to assure their compliance with regulations like HIPAA, international consumer privacy laws and their own internal policies. At a minimum, they must protect Personal Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and sensitive intellectual property from inappropriate disclosure.

Skyhigh brings a flexible approach to DLP that provides multiple options for handling files that violate policies. Skyhigh Secure scans documents as they’re uploaded to Box or immediately after an edit. Violations trigger actions like alerts, blocks, or quarantines. Moreover, the Skyhigh solution can integrate with on-premise DLP solutions to extend existing content templates to ensure compliance with specific industry and regional policies. This ability to extend existing policies and customizations helps businesses better protect sensitive content moving at the speed of cloud.
