#BoxWorks Super Sessions: Technology Meets Government and Social Good

By

We’re only 36 days away from our third annual BoxWorks, and it’s already shaping up to be the best BoxWorks yet.

Box CEO Aaron Levie will kick things off on Monday, September 16th, unveiling some kickass new product and platform updates and sharing a glimpse into the future of Box. We’ll also hear from dozens of customers including Toyota, Schneider Electric and Duke Energy throughout the conference, learning how they use Box to drive business forward.

But we’re also going to zoom out and take a look at the broader impact that cloud and mobile technologies are having across sectors. And on that note, we’re super excited to announce the addition of three new BoxWorks Super Sessions focused on the transformative power of technology in government and the non-profit world.

Gavin Newsom HeadShot[2][3]

Gavin Newsom on “Revolutionizing Democracy in the Digital Age”
Gavin Newsom, current Lieutenant Governor of California and former Mayor of San Francisco, will share his vision for a better, more connected government. He’ll reveal how ordinary citizens can leverage technology and innovation to reshape governments. Session will start at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 17th. (Bonus: he has great hair.)

“DC Meets the Valley” in a panel on the intersection of technology and policy
The Valley and the Hill don’t always get along. And as innovation outpaces policy, the relationship is increasingly strained. Cloud computing, wearable devices, and connected cars are transforming the way we work and play, and policy needs to transform with them. In this panel, former chief council of the FCC Sherrese Smith, leading lobbyist Heather Podesta, and Dell’s former head of global government relations Becca Gould will participate in what is sure to be a lively conversation led by the former Mayor of DC, Adrian Fenty. Panel gets started at 3:30pm on Monday, Septmber 15th.

Panel on “Digitizing Social Good” in a new era of non-profits
What happens when you take some of the world’s biggest, most audacious campaigns for social good and combine them with the power of the web? Hear how some of the most inventive people in the nonprofit world are building stronger communities across geographies thanks to cloud, mobile and social tools. Speakers include Elizabeth Gore of the United Nations, Stephanie von Friedeburg or the World Bank and David Goodman of the International Rescue Committee. Don’t miss this one on Tuesday, September 16th at 3:00pm.

As the countdown to BoxWorks continues, we’ll reveal more juicy updates each week about new speakers, our rockin’ after party (Blink-182, w00t), and fun giveaways. Keep an eye on @BoxHQ for the latest, and be sure to register here.
