New Admin Tools for Managing Complex Deployments

By

It’s been a great couple of months if you’re a Box admin. We’ve launched awesome new security features (like our integration with MobileIron), achieved global compliance standards (including HIPAA and ISO 27001) and built the best possible collaboration experience for Windows Phone and Windows 8.

We’re continuing this momentum today with three powerful new features that make managing a complex, enterprise-wide deployment dead simple. Box hasn’t forgotten that admins are people (and users!), too, making the tools we give IT just as elegant and easy to use as everything else in the product.

This week, we’re rolling out three new features in the Box admin console, including an improved content manager, granular co-admin permission options and the ability to prevent users from permanently deleting content.

Content manager is an optional tab in the admin console, available exclusively for those in the beta program, and helps admins view the content each user has access to and search for specific files and folders across the entire account. Today, we’re making it even more powerful by introducing a way for admins to manage content and users, including security settings, access permissions and file/folder ownership across an entire organization. It’s a powerful command center that gives admins insight into what’s going on in their deployment, plus the management functionality they need to take action instantly. You can check out all the details here.

Quick note for admins of Box Enterprise accounts not yet in the beta program! If you’re interested, just reach out to your Box customer success manager and they’ll turn on Content Manager for your account.

Today, we’re also adding tools that help fine-tune the specific permissions available to co-admins, making sure help desk leads, IT representatives and business analysts have just the right level of access – without giving too much. Full details are available here.

Finally, we now let admins of Box Enterprise accounts prevent users from permanently deleting items they’ve moved to the trash – an important option that can help admins comply with legal holds, create data retention policies or meet data loss prevention goals. Details are on Box here.

Together, these three tools will help Box customers cut through the complexity of managing content, users and roles in highly connected organizations. Combined with the existing tools in the Box admin console, these enhancements ensure that every Box deployment – at a company with 100 or 100,000 employees – will scale securely, successfully, and easily for everyone (especially our beloved admins!).
