Box Gets Highest Rating Possible from Gartner on Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing

By

I’m pleased to announce that Box has received the highest rating possible, Strong Positive, in Gartner’s 2013 MarketScope for Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing. Given that industry experts from Gartner advise the most sophisticated and global IT organizations (many of whom are already Box customers) on their technology investments, this is exciting news.

We’re glad Gartner is recognizing the emerging and dynamic market that Box has helped to shape: secure file sharing; anytime, anywhere productivity; and true content collaboration. Check out the Gartner MarketScope report here to see what they have to say about Box!

Other important facets of the report:

  • Gartner selected eleven vendors that are top-of-mind among Gartner clients when evaluating enterprise sync and sharing.
  • Besides Box, the ranked vendors included Accellion, Acronis, Citrix, Egnyte, EMC, Good Technology, Nomadesk, Oxygen Cloud, WatchDox, and YouSendIt.
  • Gartner evaluated vendors who provided the broadest support for mobile platforms with native applications, file sync, and collaboration capabilities, while ensuring the high level of security and compliance expected by IT.

Though further industry consolidation and commoditization are to be expected in the enterprise file sharing and synchronization sphere, Gartner believes the overall market is very promising, with a lot of potential growth ahead. “File sync and sharing is a critical capability for mobile workforces whose organizations have ongoing mobility initiatives with media tablets and BYOD programs,” they write in the report. Gartner expects IT will face increasing demand for these capabilities, with a deeper focus on security and compliance by regulated and security-conscious enterprises.

With 150,000 active businesses, 15 million users, and 92% of Fortune 500 companies already using Box, we’re well-positioned to lead this exciting new market into its next phase of growth. Our goal at Box is to enable a new cloud work platform for today’s increasingly social and mobile world, providing both a world-class experience for users and a secure, scalable, and reliable platform for IT.

Our strong positive rating from Gartner is the latest in important recognitions for Box: we were also a leader in the Forrester Wave Cloud Strategies of Online Collaboration Vendors Q3 2012 and the Q3 2011 Forrester Wave on Mobile Collaboration. Box is the only vendor who consistently leads in the Mobile Collaboration, Cloud Collaboration and now, Enterprise-Scale Sync and Share markets.
