Box for Android Gets Password Protection and Improved Sharing

As always, the Box team has been hard at work thinking of ways to improve and enhance our mobile apps. This past week, we made a few updates to Box for Android that’ll make sharing easier and more secure. Here’s a quick rundown of what we added:

Passcode Protection

Many of you requested this feature, and we listened. In addition using a password to protect your account, you can secure Box for Android with a 4-digit passcode. Simply open the menu, hit “settings,” check “enable passcode,” then create your 4-digit code. If you leave the Box app for more than 5 seconds, you’ll be prompted to enter this number to regain access to your account. This will provide an extra layer of security should your phone fall into the wrong hands.

More Ways to Share

Now you can send files using your favorite Android apps or copy a shared link with just a few taps. Simply select the file you want to share, tap “Share” and you’ll see a URL that you can copy and paste anywhere. You can also send this link to other apps by tapping “Send” from there. You’ll see choices like Messaging, Gmail, Twitter and more.

We definitely think you’ll find these updates useful – download the update here. Have suggestions for new features? Just leave a comment below or reach out to us @BoxHQ. Happy sharing!
