Meet the Box Team: Mira on Working with Our Enterprise Customers

By , Social Media Manager

In this month’s edition of our employee spotlight, we chat with Mira Karp, a member of Box’s client services team! She tells us about what led her to join Box, and also lets us know why she refuses to ride a scooter around the office.

What’s your title and what do you do?

I’m the senior client services manager. We have an entire team of client services associates, and it’s my job to make sure that we all work together to assist our customers. As the voice of Box to our business and enterprise customers, we help with training calls, implementation, Box integrations, along with any other one-off questions people may have. I love my team; they really care about making sure our clients get the most out of Box.

Why did you choose to do client services at Box?

Before I got my MBA, I did sales and customer service at Leapfrog, which led me to realize that I really enjoy helping people out. I like answering questions and troubleshooting – working in client services provides me with a good mix of the two. After getting my MBA, I wanted to do something interdisciplinary where I would learn about different parts of a company. Even back when I was an undergrad at Berkeley, I majored in PEIS (political economy of industrial societies) so that I could study a few different areas. I’m a big fan of multitasking.

You went to Berkeley as an undergrad, then went back to get your MBA from Haas – why did you decide to return to Berkeley?

I really enjoyed my experience at Berkeley as an undergrad (Go Bears!), and after working for a few years, I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else except Berkeley for my MBA. Haas was an amazing (and humbling) experience. The program was very intense; you take classes with 240 people who are incredibly smart and accomplished – they’re world champions, award winners and skilled engineers. I had a great experience and learned a lot.

Do you have any tips for our business and enterprise clients who use Box?

I only have one suggestion: If you have questions – call in and ask them. Even if it’s something we can’t answer yet, we’d love to have your feedback and ideas.  I have a really great team that’s dedicated to making sure that our clients get the help they need. We want you to reach out to us!

What do you think of Box’s new office? Have you ever worked in an office like this before?

I love the new office and all of the neat stuff we have. However, I won’t be riding on the scooters anytime soon. I see people zip around on those at crazy speeds, and I’m not interested in breaking any bones. Overall, I think my favorite thing about the office is the new open layout. It really facilitates conversation between departments, and that’s helpful for someone like me who works with everyone.

How did you find out about Box?

I found out about Box through the Haas network – it’s a place for graduates to find out about opportunities through other alumni. I emailed someone at Box who was working in the marketing department to get more information about the work environment; she only had positive things to say about the company and her coworkers, so I decided to apply. Now Box has 3 Haas Alumni – eat it Stanford!

What do you like to do outside of work?

My 15 month-old baby (Lily) takes up a lot of my time – she loves to talk so I try to give her as much attention as I can. I also like to read, with historical fiction being my genre of choice. One thing that’s really important to me is making sure that my daughter, my husband and I all have dinner together every night at the table. It’s a great way to unwind and spend time together at the end of a busy day!

Hey Stanford folks, the number of Cal people at Box is juuuuuust barely edging Stanford’s total. Join us and help tip the scales the other way! Bonus points if you can be as vocal about your Stanford pride as Mira is with Berkeley! Check out our jobs page @ http://www.box.net/jobs.
