Box Tasks Revamped With Due Dates, Google Calendar Integration and More

By

Lot of people (even Boxers… though we’re not naming names) have found themselves in the following situation:

Your boss sends you an assignment with a due date far off in the future, so you file it away on your “to-do” list. Weeks later, your heart drops as you realize that the project is due tomorrow – and you haven’t even started!

Our task feature was first introduced as a simple way for people to stay on top of their work and avoid the last-minute dread of a forgotten due date. Now, we’ve refreshed tasks to make them even more useful – here’s a quick rundown of the new features we’ve added:

Task due dates: This allows you to set a date when assigning a task on a document. Next time you ask your colleagues to review, update or approve a document in Box, you can optionally set a date by which the task needs to be completed. After you’ve set this up, your collaborators will receive notification and reminder emails. Pretty handy for that person who never seems to remember when a report is due!

Google Apps and Google Calendar integration: To ensure that these due dates are actively tracked by your collaborators, we’ve also included a tool for the task to be placed on the Google Calendar of all users assigned the task (as long as they have a Google account). If your Box account is integrated with your Google Apps account, this feature will work right off the bat. If you do not have Google Apps integration, you’ll be asked to authenticate using your Google account the first time you use this feature.

Other goodies to help you stay productive: The Pending Item Manager was updated to indicate due dates and highlight late items. It now includes a list of completed tasks so you have an overview of what’s been assigned, what you’ve done and what’s overdue (oops!). Think of it as your personal to-do list in the cloud – much more useful than those hard-to-read sticky notes spread all over your desk.

We hope these additions will make it easier for you to keep track of everything you’re working on. We’ve already used them to help our more…forgetful friends remember when their projects are due. Above all, we want to make it easier for you to collaborate and get stuff done on Box, so be sure to keep your eyes on our blog – we have some neat features coming up that will make sharing and content management even better.

This feature is available to our Business and Enterprise customers. If you do not have the Business or Enterprise plan, please contact our team at 1-877-729-4269
