Box User Story: A Fight Worth Winning

By

We feel very fortunate at Box.net to hear extraordinary stories from extraordinary people on how they use our service. For this week’s user story, we’d like to share how Box is used at the C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition.

I was lucky to come across this story after getting in touch with Judi Sohn, the Managing Editor for Web Worker Daily, a blog that is part of the GigaOM network of websites. In addition to her responsibilities for a site that focuses on great tips and advice for people who use the web for work, Judi is the Vice President of Operations for the C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition.

Judi Sohn, C3

Founded in 2005 and headquartered near Washington D.C., C3′s mission as a non-profit, non partisan advocacy organization is to fight colorectal cancer through research, empowerment and access. While many non-profit cancer organizations focus on worthy education initiatives, C3 also takes a proactive approach to legislative policy to make the most effective colorectal cancer prevention and treatment available to all. A worthy cause indeed.

In addition to its forward-thinking approach to legislative advocacy, C3 takes a progressive approach to its operations, embracing several major cloud-based services, including Box. Judi definitely knows her stuff when it comes to evaluating web-based applications. And when she realized that one of their services was great for its original purpose, but far too expensive for content storage, Judi recognized that Box.net would provide a secure, reliable, affordable and intuitive solution to store important legal documentation, audio archives of conference calls and other files, as well as to share and collaborate with other C3 staff and board members. She calls Box.net C3′s virtual filing cabinet.

Judi particularly likes the fact that Box is web-based, and thus friendly to their very mobile and cross-platform organization. C3 members find Box very easy to use and appreciate how simple it is to set security and access permissions for confidential and sensitive files and view version histories when multiple people are working on the same document. And as C3 grows, Judi knows it will be easy to scale Box in terms of their storage needs and user seats.

We are humbled by the work that Judi and everyone at C3 does, working hard to better the lives of others. It’s truly a fight worth winning.
